THE FARM HOUSE
The Farm House is one of the older buildings still standing in Hoedspruit and was the original homestead for the Happyland farm which was sold by the original farming family to become the well known residential wildlife estates we know today.
The farm was historically a cattle farm and some generations of farmers tried their hand at farming grain and rice. The farm was also used for hunting where the old farmers used to hunt lion who raided the old cattle kraals.
The old Farm House was a derelict building for many years and was acquired by Jake and Antonia Hoddinott in mid-2020 amidst the chaotic corona pandemic and lockdown periods. What would seem like a crazy time to be investing in a new property and project was actually the perfect time. Jake and Antonia have likened it to a fire. As with life on a farm, a fire is devastating in itself but afterwards it brings new life. Here they have tried to restore grandeur to the old farm house homestead with its quaint and simple charm whilst enhancing its magnificent features and providing for all the modern amenities.
